Seigetsu

The sashimi set meal is a natural place to start at Seigetsu. One diner described thick slices of sashimi served with gently flavoured freshwater clam soup, well-seasoned daikon and a simmered dish, and also enjoyed a refill of rice. Another visitor noted that the sashimi in the chef’s-choice set was fresh. For a meal centred on fish, the sashimi set or the chef’s-choice option offers a chance to see what is being served that day.

There is more to the set meals than the main dish. A grilled-fish set on one visit included salt-grilled mackerel, small side dishes, pickles, egg, soup and rice; one of the sides was doteyaki, a miso-based simmered dish made with white miso. Diners have also remarked that the side dishes vary from day to day, so choosing a fish main can come with a little surprise on the side.

For something other than fish, options include katsudon and curry rice. One diner recalled that the katsudon came with extra cutlet served alongside because it would not all fit in the bowl, as well as miso soup with somen noodles and a pickled plum. The owner’s homemade curry rice has been described as spicy, offering another kind of meal beyond the set menus.

A visitor describes the dining room as counter-only, with an old-fashioned atmosphere. Seigetsu serves set meals at lunchtime and food in the evening, and also offers alcoholic drinks to enjoy with a dish. Dine-in service and alcohol are available. It is open Tuesday to Friday and Sunday from 14:00 to 20:00, and closed on Mondays and Saturdays.
